Dear Family and Friends,

We are looking forward to seeing you at our wedding that is right around the corner and quickly approaching! It seems as though it was only a few weeks ago that Michelle and I were beginning our preparations, but in fact, months have gone by! Our preparations are progressing wonderfully - all of the major items are taken care of - and we are very excited. This post is to give you some information about the hotels that we are suggesting for our guests.

In selecting prospective hotels for our guests, we tried to balance the following concerns: 1) proximity to shopping, dining, and sites; 2) central location between airport, our home, church, and reception site; 3) availability of different hotels to fit a variety of budgets; and 4) ease of navigation between hotel and all locations. Regardless of the hotels that our guests select, we encourage all of our guests to book their lodging and rental cars as soon as possible. March is the “high-season” in the Arizona lodging industry because: It’s the Major League Baseball spring training season, Spring Break tourism, and a large number of weddings occur in March due to the outstanding weather conditions that the month presents. In particular, rental car agencies typically run out of cars here in March, so be sure to book as soon as possible.

After looking at several hotels, we selected the following 3 hotels because they are centrally located in the exciting area of downtown Scottsdale, they are easily accessible from the reception location, they can serve different budgets but are within walking distance of each other so that family members and friends can get together, and they have many amenities that we believe our guests would like:

We encourage all of our guests to inform us of their lodging arrangements after they have been made, as this could assist Nathan in negotiating any ex-post further discounts based on room volume at certain hotels.

Please note that the 3 hotels above are situated near world-class shopping, outstanding nightlife, and splendid dining establishments.

We also understand that the hotels above may not work for all of our guests. Being a popular tourist destination, Scottsdale is replete with numerous luxury resorts, spas, and hotels from all major chains as well as smaller hotels. Most large and small hotels in Scottsdale are situated along or near the main artery of the city, Scottsdale Road, which runs the entire north/south length of Scottsdale.

There are also many good hotels in Tempe that are cheaper if your desire is to be closer to our home or to the Church, or if there is a need to control cost. However, these are located a further distance away from the reception site. Again, the hotels above are meant to strike a balance between several concerns. Please contact Nathan or Michelle at anytime if you would like other suggestions for lodging in the area based on your individual needs. There are hundreds of hotels in Phoenix, so we will definitely find one that is right for you!

Wedding Location and Date set - Mark Your Calendars!

Dearest Family, Friends, and Invited Guests,

Michelle and I are ecstatic that our wedding date and location have been set as March 10, 2007 in Tempe, Arizona (a suburb of Phoenix), and we hope that you will be able to join us in the Phoenix area as we start our new life together. Over the past two months, we have worked hard together to begin the process of planning and preparing for our special day, and we are having fun in the process! One thing we would like to note is that we know that some of our family and friends will have to travel in order to be with us, and so as we are putting the details of the weekend together, we will provide our guests with as much information and support as possible.

As our plans and preparations continue to develop, we will be providing suggestions on hotels, transportation, recreation, and dining in the Phoenix area, and we hope that those who must travel to Phoenix to be with us will be able to spend some additional time in the Valley of the Sun and enjoy all of the unique recreational activities and sights that the Phoenix area or Arizona in general has to offer.

In addition to notes on lodging, transportation, recreation, and dining, we'll be posting more pictures, fun facts, and some details of the ceremony and reception.
